Update

Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever

It has been a while since I updated but everything is going quite well. Josh finished up his last treatment of round 3 this past Tuesday. So now all he has left is 1 more round of treatment!! Monday Josh had a PFT (pulmonary function test) to see how his lungs are functioning. We knew they weren’t functioning as good as they normally are but we weren’t quite prepared for the results that we got. His lungs are only functioning in the mid 40’s%. We have an office visit on Monday so we will know for certain what if anything we are going to do about that. We did talk briefly to Dr. Schertz on Tuesday, he hadn’t seen the results yet but he did say that he didn’t really feel comfortable stopping the Bleomycin treatments unless there was a significant change in the PFT but since everything was so rushed Josh never had a PFT before he started the chemo. We did find out also that the fluid on Josh’s lungs can’t be drained because it is not pleural effusion. Pleural effusion is excess fluid that accumulates in the pleural cavity, the fluid-filled space that surrounds the lungs. The fluid that Josh has pulmonary edema which means that the fluid is actually inside his lungs. There are several ways that we can go about fixing it but it will all take time.

He is going well, eat good, staying as comfortable as can be. He starts round 4 chemo on Monday I will update again then.
