The Dr. called

Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever

Its never good when your doctor calls you on the weekend. Dr. Schertz, the oncologist, called yesterday morning to discuss the results from the pulmonary function test that Josh had last week. We knew the results and that they were bad but he hadn’t had time to review them. He said that he didn’t feel comfortable leaving Josh on the chemo drug, Bleomycin that he gets once a week. Therefore, Josh will be 3 treatments short from completing all of the Bleo rounds. Dr. Schertz can’t say for certain how this will affect the chemotherapy and the cancer but he did tell us last week that he would only take him off the Bleo if his lungs were significantly affected from it. Tomorrow when we go to the office visit and chemo we are going to get set up to go see a pulmonary specialist regarding his lungs and the possibility of having Bleomycin toxicity. There is very little information about Bleomycin pulmonary toxicity. We do know that if he has that he will not be able to be on oxygen for a while, possibly even for life.
