And so another year came to a close…as I sit here reflecting back over 2008 I look ahead to 2009 with hope…courage…..determination!
Yesterday Josh went to his last doctor’s appointment of the year; he had a follow-up with the brain surgeon who has released him from all restrictions. He doesn’t have to see Dr. Harron for 6 months. As much as I love Dr. Harron I hope we never have to see him again except for checkups. Tomorrow Josh has his first doctor’s appointment for 2009 with Dr Schertz. We are both very excited for this appointment after getting the tumor marker results!
2008 was quite a year for my family. While Joshs health has been “up & down” over the year…the bottom line is…HE IS STILL HERE…and so are almost all of my loved ones, so I am blessed beyond what I deserve.
This year has brought so many happy memories…watching Kobie start preschool and explaining to all of his teachers that daddy is sick with the “cancer bug”, even sitting on Santas lap at the mall asking for a McDonald’s play set and to take Daddy’s cancer away, our trip to Indianapolis, becoming closer to Josh, seeing Josh in ICU after his brain surgery being a chatterbox, , having numerous people help my family in our time of need, and meeting many new friends that we will cherish for the rest of our life.
We have met so many good people and have made new friendships with them. Josh and I’s relationship is so much stronger for each other and the love we have for each other has proven to be never ending. As bad as this year has been for us and as much as we would like it to be over there was some good that came from it and it is good for us to see this and reflect back on it. This is certainly a year we will never forget!
With all of that being said, I am READY FOR 2009!!!! This year we hope to spend more time together as a family which will be no easy job since we are both working full time, opposite shifts and I will be starting school again in a couple weeks. We also hope to take a vacation together as a family, the vacation we deserved last year which also will not be easy with all of our medical expenses but nonetheless it gives us something to work toward.
